I am a Freelance Writer, Researcher, Artist, Activist, Entrepeneur, and offer hypnosis sessions.I also wrote two instructional programs, for professionals like myself, to help children who have or are suffering(i.e., trauma, death, divorce, etc.) When the programs are used correctly, individuals will gain a greater insight on how to teach children relaxation, meditation, and the use of hypnosis so they may have the opportunity to learn or relearn imperative 'life skills', lost (due to trauma, etc.)during various developmental stages. Adults who suffered as children also benefit greatly from hypnosis. You can retrain your brain as well as change your thinking. It is only spontaneous "thoughts" we have no control over. How we "react" or "act" on those thoughts is what we can change.

As I continue to read the article by Mr. Bowes he proceeds, attempting to make us believe that the Catholic Church and the U.S. government are conspiring against the American people. His effort to divide our attention by throwing a “red-herring about some conspiracy theory” brings my attention to a possible assumption; Mr. Bowe’s presupposes that Americans are ignorant as to the origin of what brought us to this impasse or deadlock with these illegal immigrant children in the first place! His “fifteen minutes of fame” for those who buy into this, creates nothing more than further division among all of us. Is this truly our goal to further divide people, or do we need to use our resources to create a more humane solution to this desperate and potentially volatile situation. It seems as though his attempt to “cut and paste” an article together, accomplishes nothing but to confuse the reader. This surpasses previous reporters caught falsifying information in order to get their story out first. While he’s on his “soap-box” in a desperate attempt to demoralize the Catholic Church let us remember, or learn if need be, a little of the history of the Church. Perhaps this will shed some light for those who have lost interest in our Maker, exposing the truth beyond the “red-herring” or conspiracy theory he is trying to “sell” us. The deeper I delve, I begin to understand two points he is trying to make, challenging the reader’s patience, they are as follows:
1)He does not like illegal immigrants
2)He is attempting to create a conspiracy theory by stating that the Catholic Church is working with the government. The following is a direct QUOTE from his article and does not include any of my own words:
“If Mexico was an arab nation and the people coming across our borders were muslims, would the Catholic Church be supporting them and pushing for their immediate immigration status? ….the Catholic Church and the US Govt think similarly, and that, the Govt is looking for a new poor social class that will vote through all the pork, the American Church is looking for more Catholics to add to their numbers.”
First, if “….the Govt is looking for a new poor social class….”, they need not search outside the borders of America’s soil, the failure of the middle-class will eventually accomplish this. Further, I personally chose the Catholic Church as my religion because they do not discriminate, a resounding YES Mr. Bowes to your question regarding “…muslims, would the Catholic Church be supporting….” Illegal immigrant Muslim children who were hungry, dirty, tired, etc., would be cared for by the Church, unless the government prevented them from doing so. And second, if “…the American Church is looking for more Catholics to add to their numbers”, well my friends, young, native, non-indigenous American children would not have been a great choice for the Church given the fact they are currently stretched financially due to the funding needed for volunteer help, the limited number of Priests, over-worked Nuns, etc. In what way, would accepting non-English-speaking children, who would be completely dependent on us, substantiate such an absurd question? Unfortunately, he goes even further, giving us his interpretation of a “quote” from an excerpt of a statement by Bishop Elizondo, originally from Victoria, Mexico. For those not familiar of how quotes within quotes are represented they will begin with (‘) and not (“), it reads as follows:
“Bishop Eusebio L. Elizondo of Seattle and […] chairman of the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on Migration, has suggested that the desperation of many illegal immigrants gives them ‘no choice’ but to violate U.S. immigration laws, CNA also reports that (auxiliary) Bishop Elizondo believes that a wide array of circumstances place people into situations in which they are ‘forced’ to break the law in order to provide for their families”.
In the above quote, as far as I can determine, the only material he actually quotes by the Bishop, are the words “no choice” and “forced”. In addition, he gives third party information when stating, “CNA….reportsthat Bishop Elizondo believes….”. His careless criticism and “quotes” of this Bishop place him in a very precarious position. God is very clear on how he feels towards those who persecute his people and as much as Jesus professed his love for children, we need to be very careful how we proceed in this country. We need only compare our past to our present, to see that as we began to disclaim God, contention among people grew rapidly.
He goes on to quote another Catholic Priest from the Diocese of Arlington (no name) who states “Would the bishops violate the seventh commandment by lying or by fraud in order to protect one’s family from being returned to its homeland? Would it be illegal or immoral to have a fraudulent Social Security card? Or to lie to governmental agencies investigating their citizenship? The Church has been accused of justifying lying for its own purposes. Do we really want to encourage others to lie and commit fraud if that’s their only ‘choice’ to protect their immigration status?” This Priest he supports.
I would ask this Priest and all those who side with him, Would you ignore God’s word, “….I tell you that something greater than the temple is here. If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.” (Matthew 12:1) Then meet and ask one another are we condemning the innocent? Are we greater than God’s word that we can step out and say to the people here in America that the hungry, hurt, abandoned, and suffering children begging for their freedom and our assistance are breaking God’s law? Further, I ask you, was Jesus wrong when he visited the Temple and proceeded to destroy that which existed not for the purpose of worship but to fulfill the ungodly desires of man? He destroyed the evil within the Temple which was robbing God of His right of Worship. Jesus knew that those who entered would become distracted therefore turning their minds from God to that of Man. He used physical force to make His point that this was indeed an intolerable situation and would not remain within the “house” of God. Have we turned our minds from God to that of Man?
Each one of us became the “house” of God upon our Baptism. We are all God’s people and will play a role, whether good or bad, in His plan . Jesus opens his heart to the suffering when he says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14). He discusses taxes and children in Matthew 17:25 “When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak. “What do you think, Simon?” (a tax collector) he asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes from, their own children or from others?”
To all those that belong to God, Are these children coming into our country breaking man’s law, or God’s law? Certainly turning children away who are desperate and seeking help is not a Godly decision…Those fighting to send these children back are breaking commandments, not those who seek refuge. Ultimately, the point the Priest, Mr. Bowes refers to, who is accusing illegal immigrants of breaking the seventh commandment, “Thou Shalt Not Steal” (Exodus 20:15) is moot.
I am sure you can find more online if you wish. However, as a Christian and a Catholic I desire to hear more from those standing on the pulpit-translating God’s word. I am begging for direction as to what His word tells us we should do, and our church leaders guiding us as to whom we can contact in order to end this crisis on a positive note. Christians no longer want to be thought of as doormats or incompetent hypocrites. We went from soldiers fighting for the truth, dying for what we believed in, to our present situation. It was a slow transition of which we all played a part of, over the centuries! I am afraid that quoting the Bible no longer impresses others, they have grown immune to God’s word as they continue to see these individuals, who call themselves Christians, act in unchristian ways. I wish I knew why the Catholic Church remains silent on important issues that affect us all. I have spent my life studying people, and they are leaving the Church in droves, searching for a knowledge they are no longer provided. We all have a need to feel close to God, and not feel as though it is only Priests who are afforded this. Yes, this is what people are believing because the church chooses silence, rarely guiding us from the pulpit. God resides within us and it is the Church’s job to reinforce this and lead us, away from temptation. Many who take God and His word seriously, are expecting change, yet it remains as still as the night and now openly divided. Surely they CANNOT think that this public display of division within, empowers and prompts its people to action! Some may disagree with my argument as scripture tells us God’s Church will remain, but I ask you all, of which Church is he speaking?
I close Part II with this thought: How many other Mr. Bowes’ are out there influencing people with conspiracy theories and misrepresentations of the church? And how long will we sit and say nothing?
